Since last Summer St Wilfrids Church in Calverton has been hosting a Foodbank Hub to help serve the needs of their Community. This is open from 3-4pm every Tuesday, alongside the church’s afternoon tea and chat, which everyone is welcome to join in with from 2pm – 3.30pm.
We felt there was a need of closer support in the village as transport costs can be a hindrance if you are already struggling.
Those looking to donate directly to the Calverton community can give via collection boxes in the Coop and Sainsburys, or any of the Calverton churches will be able to take your donation along.
Referral to the Foodbank can be found through support from The Core Centre (at the Miners Welfare Club), local schools, GPs (if you have health issues) or through GBC if you are a council resident. If none of them fit your needs then Citizens Advice Hardship Line can offer support and referral – 0808 208 2138.
