Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the Lifeblood of a Foodbank. Sorting, Picking, Welcoming, Listening or making a cuppa.
Trustee – Do you have management or business skills that you could offer. We are looking for some new trustees to support our project as it moves forward. You will need to be sympathetic to the Christian values of our charity and have time to attend around 4 meetings a year. Knowledge of the charity sector and of the values of the Trussell Trust would be a benefit.
General Volunteer – Do you have a few hours a week to spare supporting our clients by picking their parcels, and supporting our donors by processing their donations? If you are 18+, physically fit (for moving around our cellar and moving stock) have an empathetic outlook and enjoy working in a team then get in touch.’
Client Support – Do you feel able to support our service users to access other service and advice? You would be signposting to advice rather than giving advice yourself. Basic IT skills would be an advantage – eg knowing your way around a google search, supporting with form filling. A good listening ear is essential.
We only ask for a commitment to one session a week. Volunteers arrive from @ 12.30pm – and leave from 3pm. Some like to stay longer to help tidy up and support last minute clients.
